Lauren Tompkins

Lauren Tompkins is a contemporary artist based in Dallas. She turns two-dimensional photographs into three-dimensional works, incorporating the viewer, by photographing landscapes from historical and national parks, creating illustrations from these references, and using light and reflection to superimpose the her images and the viewer onto a third plane. Light, shadow, and reflection play an important role to her works, casting shadows of photographs, illustrations, and text onto surrounding substrates, transforming them into intangible sculptures.
